The Search Light That Came From The Park

I was born in 1938 and lived near the park during most of my young life. I went to Epiphany grammar school. Many summer evening we would beg my mom to take us to the "park". Most times she would not have enough money, but had a special pass. We could get in by just paying a few cents (the tax I think). Well we would look in all the places (under couch cushions, in the bottom of her pocketbook) until we came up with the correct number of pennies. Then we would walk to the park (we lived on Lawton Ave) and just watch the people and sometimes have a lemonade.

One great memory was the search light that came from the park. We could see it in the sky from our living room window. Yes we also could hear that famous Cyclone and the screams of the riders and this became a sound of summer I still hear in my memories. The pool was great. We had an uncle who worked there as a lifeguard and sometimes we would go in behind the falls and meet him and he would get us in the pool free.

Great site brings back a flood of memories.
