Fond Memories
A Scene From The Wizard Of Oz
Hi Vin,
I went to Palisade Park for the first time in 1968 at
the age of
10. My neighbor across the street, Mr. Augie Paul in Waldwick N.J., was
nice enough to take my brother, sister and myself. We didn't have a
father around at that time to take us there. I remember getting out of
the car that night and seeing all those lights and excitement from all
the rides going at the same time. It felt like the scene from the Wizard
of OZ, where the door is opened and all you see is this magical dream
land. Something for kids of all ages to experience. The smell was
fantastic, it made you instantly hungry. The energy of the night and all
the people enjoying this fantastic time in their life's was just
overwhelming. Riding the Ferris wheel and seeing the New York skyline
was just breathtaking.
It was a great and most memorable time in my life.
One in which I will never forget. I know that time passes for all, but to
have been fortune enough to have gone to Palisade Park during a innocent
carefree time surely makes me feel truly blessed. Thanks Mr. Paul for
taking the time to make a difference in the kids lives across the street,
if not for you would not have been blessed to "come on down to
Palisades Park". We will always have a wonderful memory of our
childhood thanks to you. God bless you always and rest in peace.
Sincerely,
Randy Waters
