  Fond Memories

End of an Era

I think I will remember most the fun house, the freak show, the place where I had my first ever taco, the electric go-carts and the skyride. I think I was too small to go on the Cyclone.

I remember the very last time we went that summer.......perhaps only a week or so before it closed it doors, seeing the boat ride and the water was green, perhaps no one caring about it. Sad.

Then in the winter, seeing Eyewitness News and the story was "End of an Era" and seeing the Cyclone being demolished on the snowy ground, I was so crushed. This coming 5 or so years after the end of Steeplechase (which I only knew from older relatives) and it truly seems like the end of amusement parks in the NYC area.

Today the one thing I have is a Little Archie's coupon for a free ride on the Hootenanny. I have it framed. Almost if protected from time like my memories of Palisades Park.
