Mom and Dad Met in 1909

Vince,

Having read many of the memories that were posted, I'd dare say that my story goes back the furthest.

My father, a sailor in the U.S. Navy, and my mother, who was on her "maid's night out," met at Palisades Park in 1909. Her purse had fallen overboard as she road the ferry from NYC with her sisters. Without funds, she could only watch as her sisters enjoyed the rides. When the sailor boy asked, "Are you lonely?" she grasped the opportunity for revenge, although she was aware that nice girls didn't date sailors. Annie and Arthur were married in Jan. 1910. Their marriage lasted until their deaths. Their three daughters cherish the stories of the fun times they had at Palisades.

Sad, that the park no longer exists.
