First Visit To Palisades Park Website

It is very emotional for me! Thanks for the memories. I lived on Undercliff Ave. in Edgewater at the foot of the cliffs. (1957-1963). I could hear the lions roaring at the circus and I could hear the guy get shot out of the cannon at every show! The "big kids" (teenagers) would climb up the cliffs and sneak in through the hole in the fence. We took the bus up from Edgewater and yes, I remember the free tickets on the last day of school. I went to Holy Rosary and I remember Father standing at the top of the steps and tossing rolls of tickets into the crowd...we all got some, somehow. My fondest memory which I cry just thinking about is the Carousel, the magnificent horses, some with real horse hair manes and tails! The clanging of the bell, the brass ring, the boys who buckled you onto the horse, the paintings, lights and mirrors. I remember looking for my mother as I completed another rotation, and there she was, standing just where I had last seen her. I have pictures of my sister and I in the pool, also with my mom...she loved Palisades Park as much as we did. Will visit your wonderful site again when I want to go back to that time and place.
