The Mountain Dew Country Music Review

During the Summer of 1968, I was invited to record the weekly LIVE Mountain Dew Country Music Reviews. They were broadcast by WJRZ the big 97, in Hackensack, Thursdays, at 8:00 EDT. Hosted by Bob Lockwood, with Smokey Warren and The Mountain Dew Boys. Special Guests, included Tommy Cash.

The clam bake would start with a rousing, "Yahoo, Mountain Dew". The engineer was Gene Sewack, and the producer was Norm Roslin or George Palmer. They'd go back to the studio for the commercials. It was a hoot.

There was a talent contest Tuesday evenings, and at the end of the season, they broadcast, LIVE, from The New Jersey State Fair in Trenton. The guest that evening was Elton Britt.

I still have copies of most of the tapes we made. Though they aren't perfect, they are a treat to listen to.

Best, Walt Santner
