I started working at "the park" in the pool as a locker room boy in the
late 50's. then moved up to back deck boy, beach guard and then life
guard. "the park was am amazing place for those of us who worked there.
I remember going out the back of the locker room to back of the stage to
see all the rock and roll stars. At night my Mom and dad use to say "where
are you going" and my reply was "the park" they knew exactly what I meant!
Of course we never paid to get in, or go on rides or eat because all our
friends worked there. After working there I use to deliver ice there in the
morning, some places got ice cubes other places got crushed ice and still
others got block ice. It was truly a great place to work and a great place
to just hang out with your friends. I remember on good Fridays, we use to go
there and ride the rides for nothing because they use to open on Easter
Sunday and they were testing the rides. IT WAS TRULY A GREAT PLACE!!!!
