Across the G.W. Bridge to Palisades Park

I was born in 1963 and spent the first 15 years of my life just across the river in NYC; I lived just off Riverside Drive at 137th St. and remember vividly looking across the Hudson and seeing the Cyclone, day and night. After begging my parents endlessly, they relented and we drove across the G.W. Bridge to Palisades Park. Sadly, it was the early Summer of '71 and none of us had an inkling that it would be our last time at Palisades. Just a few months later, we got the near-devastating news that the park was closed for good! I remember that for some time after the park's closing, there was some lighted "ticker" that illuminated at night and ran messages of some kind across its front--I have no idea what the message(s) was/were; as I said, I was across the river and couldn't see that far. I wonder if the messages had anything to do with the park's demise. To this day, I still wonder! Anyway, great times were truly had!
